You are invited to the groundbreaking ceremonies of the first schools to be built in the City of Richmond in over a decade!

Construction of two new elementary schools will take place on Broad Rock Elementary School in the 8th District (Councilwoman Reva Trammell) and on Oak Grove Elementary in the 6th District (Councilwoman Ellen Robertson.) The current Oak Grove Elementary building is located in the 8th District.

The groundbreakings of Broad Rock and Oak Grove Elementary Schools will be the start of construction for the first new public elementary schools in the city of Richmond in over a decade. Broad Rock Elementary School is nearly a century old, while Oak Grove Elementary School dates back to 1937. The building of new schools is part of a collective effort led by Mayor Dwight C. Jones, Richmond City Council, and the Richmond School Board. Both events are open to the public and refreshments will be available.

Groundbreaking for Broad Rock Elementary School will take place on November 19, 2010 at 10:00am
Broad Rock Elementary School – 4625 Ferguson Lane

Groundbreaking for Oak Grove Elementary School will take place on November 30, 2010 at 10:00am
Oak Grove Elementary School – 2220 Ingram Avenue
