Ombak is “instrumental music for the 21st century, the meeting point of Nirvana, Noise, Tommy Dorsey, Dub and mathematics” (Steven Bernstein). Based in Richmond, VA, Ombak combines the forces of trombonist Bryan Hooten, guitarist Trey Pollard, bassist Cameron Ralston and drummer Brian Jones to create a daring mix of modern improvisation and composition. Ombak’s debut record Framing the Void, has been called “the boiled-down essence of the Richmond improvisational scene” (5 stars, Style Weekly). Ombak is currently working on its second full-length album at Trey Pollard’s Songwire Studios.
