This summer, VCU will begin a teaching residency program, much like medical residency, to train future teachers. The program lasts four years, the last three of which the participant will be a teacher in Richmond schools. The program includes mentoring, career coaches and leadership training
This seems like an amazing program that will not only train teachers well, but benefit the schools of Richmond, because these participants must work with Richmond schools while they are in the program. I think it’s only logical that we give teachers more training and more mentoring as they start their careers.
