Crews began demolition on a portion of the former S&K Menswear headquarters on West Broad Street near Interstate 64 this week, which will soon make way for a new Stratford University location. The warehouse section is being razed to make way for parking for the new school.

Built in the mid-1980s, the structure housed all of now-defunct company’s corporate offices and the menswear storage and distribution center. In February, plans were announced for Stratford University to take over the building. The office portion of the building will remain intact.

TGM Realty Investors, a subsidiary of Thalhimer Commercial Real Estate, purchased the corporate offices, attached 110,000 square foot warehouse and adjacent S&K retail store for $5.6 million last year in attempt to help the former retailer raise cash and stay afloat.

Stratford University operates campuses in Tysons Corner and Woodbridge. It offers 30 undergraduate and graduate degrees in the areas of Culinary Arts and Hospitality, Nursing, Health Sciences, Business Administration, and Information Technology. The degree programs will be offered both on campus, and online.
