After 27 hours of dancing, games and contests, plus months of prior fundraising, the students of Deep Run High School managed to raise more than $136,000 for a variety of different charities in the Richmond area, all of which will be split equally amongst them.

The dance, which started Friday evening and ended Saturday night, helped raise funds for 12 different organizations including Coal Pit Learning Center, ASK, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, ACCA Shriners, Help Claire Help Kids, Easter Seals of Virginia, Camp Baker, Fan Free Clinic, Richmond Outreach Center, Embrace Richmond, Full Circle Grief Center and Mended Little Hearts of Central Virginia. Each charity will receive more than $11,300 once the money is divided.

The event, now in its fourth year, had special meaning for Deep Run High School Principal Lenny Pritchard, who made an emotional speech at the closing ceremony about his recent bout with cancer and his thankfulness to students for raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

We’re pleased to present the closing video we produced and presented to the dance participants Saturday night, below, with remarks from the beneficiaries and footage from the event.
