Yesterday four different real estate tax rates were introduced at City Council:
- $1.23
- $1.22
- $1.21
- $1.20 (current rate)
- $1.19
Knowing that the city faces a thirty million dollar budget shortfall, I don’t see Council keeping the rate the same (or lowering it). As Northside property values stayed roughly the same last year, it looks like we’ll all be getting a larger bill next year.
Council will vote on the new rate on April 12th.
CHPN has an ongoing discussion on the matter as does Hills and Heights.
