About 9:20 PM this evening I caught a young black male looking through my door window on my front porch. When he saw me he knocked on the door, I then opened the door a crack with my two dogs by my side. The man claimed he had been robbed on Jennie Scher at the apartment complex and wanted to use my phone. I told him I would be more than happy to call the police for him but he refused. He became increasingly persistent about using my phone, even at one point turning his pockets inside out to show he didn’t have a weapon, finally he asked for directions to a store to use a phone claiming he was lost and didn’t know the area. I gave him directions to a store on Williamsburg rd., he then took off on foot heading down Accomac st.

I called Richmond Police and they responded immediately. They took a description of the male and told me that a similar black male approached another man at a house in the area three weeks ago “looking for work.”  The police believe the person was casing our houses out and trying to get inside.

Please call the police if you see or have a suspicious person show up at your house. The non-emergency phone number for the Richmond Police is 646-5100.

The individual was a young, clean shaven black male. I would guess late teens or early twenties, with short cropped hair. He was wearing dark blue jeans, black sweater and dark shoes.
