Henrico Police are searching for a man suspected of stealing purses from women in two separate incidents at stores in Short Pump. The suspect, identified by witnesses as Robert Newcomb, allegedly fled the scene of both crimes in a green Toyota with Virginia plates reading KFA-4894.

The two incidents occurred less than a half hour apart at the Short Pump Walmart and a nearby Food Lion store. According to police, both purses were stolen from shopping carts when the women had turned their backs for just a moment.

A shopper tried to apprehend the suspect, but he fled the scene. No one was hurt in either incident.
