North Richmond teaches recognized

For 20 years, the R.E.B. Awards for Teaching Excellence program has recognized Richmond-area educators for excellence in the classroom. This year, two teachers at North Richmond’s Linwood Holton Elementary School were among the 15 winners of cash grants:

  • Leslie Harrison Brockman was awarded $11,300 to visit the Pueblo, Sioux and Eastern Woodland Native American tribal regions to better understand their past and present cultures through art.
  • L. Rochelle Turnage was awarded $9,000 to travel to London, Paris, Rome, Greece and Turkey to become more aware and knowledgeable of ancient western civilization.
