The John Rolfe Parkway project caused a short interruption of water service Thursday afternoon for residents and businesses along Church Road between Pump Road and the Lake Loreine subdivision. The interruption happened as crews were relocating an existing water line as part of the new road project. Water service was expected to be fully restored by around 6:00 p.m.

Merchants Tire & Auto Centers has opened a new location on Pouncey Tract Road near Interstate 64, between the SkateNation and Bowl America buildings. The store’s grand opening is now underway.

In front of the auto repair shop you’ll find one of Short Pump’s biggest landmarks, a giant, perfectly-symmetrical oak tree. Shading Short Pump for decades, the well-known tree was preserved and now stands tall over the shop’s parking lot.
