The Chesterfield County Police Department will offer its police entrance exam on Saturday, Jan. 5, at 9 a.m. The exam will be held at the Eanes-Pittman Public Safety Training Center, 6610 Public Safety Way (in the Chesterfield County government complex).

The exam is offered to people who are interested in obtaining careers in law enforcement with the Chesterfield County Police Department. Preliminary qualifications to be a police officer include:

• U.S. citizenship
• 21 years old prior to the completion of the training academy
• At least three years of stable employment or 60 college credits, or two years of either active-duty military or law-enforcement service

The starting salary for a Chesterfield County police officer is $38,000. Benefits include a take-home car program, career-development program, fully paid training, Virginia Retirement System pension, and furnished uniform and equipment.
