A: This weekend in Richmond, guys!

1. Soulja Boy at The Landmark

There is something absolutely hilarious to me about how Soulja Boy is performing in the same facility where the Richmond Forum takes place. You know what else is hilarious? This:

Friday, July 24th, 7pm, $35. Go here to buy tickets.

2. Fully Committed at the Barksdale Theatre at Hanover Tavern

Scott Wichmann, one of Richmond’s favorite local talents, is putting in one last RVA performance before joining the U.S. Navy Reserve. No, that’s not the plot of the play. That’s what is actually happening. If you’ve never seen Wichmann in action, this one-man show is the time to do it. Opens Friday, July 24th (runs through August 30th), 8pm, 13181 Hanover Courthouse Road, $38. Buy tickets here.

3. Big Brothers Big Sisters 20th Annual Duck Race

As a native Richmonder, I’m genetically programmed to giddily clap at the sight of bagillions of rubber ducks being dropped into the James River. And the fact that those little duckies are making that trip downstream to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters makes it even more exciting. Ducks are still available for purchase around town leading up to the day of the race. Go here to find purchasing locations. Saturday, July 25th, event festivities start at 11am and go until 4pm, Brown’s Island, South 7th Street, free to go to the race, duck prices vary. Go here to see the price list.

4. Clerks. at Insomnia Theater

I would love to throw a bunch of quotes from this movie at you, but the majority of them are far too inappropriate for any of you to be reading at work. Just know that I’m chuckling to myself. A lot. Partly at the dialogue and partly at how your eyes will be assaulted by so much flannel and ill-fitting denim when you see this movie. Go 1994!!! Saturday, July 25th, 11:30pm, 1301 North Boulevard, $5.50 general admission, $4.50 with your Criterion Club Card (also playing Friday night).

5. Live at Ipanema: Julie Karr

The fifth installment of Ipanema’s much-loved live music extravaganzas is going down this weekend. Stop by Richmond’s favorite vegeterian-ish watering hole and feast your ears on the musical stylings of Julie Karr and friends. Sunday, July 26th, 9pm, 917 West Grace Street, free!

None of these up your alley? See what else is going on around town this weekend.

Did we miss anything? Leave it in the comments.

(If you have an event coming up that you want help promoting, let us know. We’ll add it to the calendar AND it just might end up making this list!)
