Pathways, a Petersburg area non-profit, will hold a free training session, 2 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, May 27 designed for landlords and tenants of homes which may contain lead-based paint. Lead has been shown to cause adverse health effects in children.

Pathways has assisted in improving the health and living conditions of young children in the City of Petersburg by reducing the lead-based paint hazards in 63 homes throughout the city to date. The Environmental Protection Agency’s overall goal is to eliminate childhood lead poisoning by the year 2010.

This training is recommended for any landlords or tenants of homes built prior to 1978, the year lead-based paint was banned in the U.S. To reserve seating, call Ron Thompson at (804) 862-1104 ext. 301. For more information on lead hazards visit www.pathways-va.org.
