CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Chesterfield County Police will launch a summer-long traffic and boating awareness and enforcement campaign on Friday, May 22. Start Safe – Stay Safe is a high visibility enforcement campaign that targets drunk driving and boating, speeding, red light and seatbelt violators. Start Safe – Stay Safe will include numerous countywide traffic checkpoints throughout the summer to reduce crashes and injuries caused by intoxicated, reckless and careless drivers and passengers. This will include a series of red-light enforcement operations, DUI checkpoints and targeted speed-enforcement efforts at specific intersections. Officers will also have active marine patrols on Lake Chesdin to combat reckless and intoxicated boating. Please don’t drink and drive, use your seatbelt, obey traffic laws, stop for red lights and obey all boating laws. “Start Safe – Stay Safe will be in effect through Labor Day weekend.
