The Petersburg Festival Chorus will present a dinner and concert entitled “100 Years of Broadway & Then Some” Sunday, April 26, 2009 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 3701 Conduit Road, Colonial Heights, VA. Dinner will begin at 5:30 pm, followed by the concert at 7 p.m.

The concert will feature a variety of well-known musical scores including “Over the Rainbow,” “That’s Entertainment,” “Comedy Tonight,” “Manhattan,” “Oh What a Beautiful Morning,” “If I Loved You,” “I’m Gonna Wash that Man Right Outa My Hair” and many more stage and screen favorites.

The chorus is directed by Sandra Thomas. Accompanying the chorus on piano will be Laura Candler-White.

“I feel like this season’s concert theme will appeal to a wide range of audiences,” said Scott Flaherty, PFC president. “Most concert goers will immediately recognize the upbeat tunes of many of the 20th century’s most influential composers.”

The Petersburg Festival Chorus is the resident chorus of Richard Bland College of the College of William and Mary. The nonprofit chorus was established in 1884 with a four-part vocal ensemble of 68 singers. Today the chorus is comprised of singers of all ages who perform concerts throughout the year.
