The Sector 313 report on crime in the Fan area is now available here. Overall crime in the Fan decreased over the previous month with the exception of theft from vehicles. The advice from the police isn’t rocket science but a good reminder: Be sure to lock cars and leave any valuables out of sight.
My highlight from the report was the effort of a victim of a robbery attempt:
W/F victim, age 23, was walking in the 1500 block of W. Main Street when she was pushed from behind by an unarmed suspect who also grabbed and attempted to take her purse. The victim struggled with the suspect and punched him in the face as they both fell to the ground. They exchanged several punches until the suspect got up and fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. The victim suffered minor abrasions and a black eye, but was able to recover her purse.
