Parents of children attending the Westview Early Childhood Education Center recently enjoyed the first of seven Ready to Learn Workshops. These workshops teach parents how to select quality children’s TV shows for their kids, how to watch them interactively, and how to create learning activities that can be enjoyed afterwards. Johnnie Humphries, professor of Early Childhood Education at John Tyler Community College, led the session. Additional workshops held that day included “Here, Now and Down the Road,” facilitated by Sam Northington and Pam McDaniel, and a workshop on nutrition presented by Annie Savage.
