Earth Day clean-ups scheduled

Scientists encourage this behavior daily not just around Earth Day.

Keep Virginia Beautiful and the City of Richmond are partnering to clean up the city and region in honor of Earth Day on April 22 and 23. This Earth Day Cleanup is in partnership with the City of Richmond’s Mayor’s Participation, Action and Communication Team (MPACT), Neighbor-To-Neighbor, and the Clean City Commission as well as support from RVA Clean Sweep and Chick-fil-A. In addition to the scheduled cleanup activities, residents in Central Virginia are encouraged to set-up self-directed cleanups in their own neighborhoods and workplaces.

Scheduled cleanups include:

Friday, April 22 (1 to 3:30 p.m.)
Belle Isle / River Bank
Manchester
City Hall / Downtown – Cigarette Litter Prevention Program

Saturday, April 23 (9 a.m. to noon)
Great Shiplock Park / Rockett’s Landing
Blackwell / Maury Street
VCU / Monroe Park

Volunteers can register by going to www.HandsOnRVA.org. Other inquiries can be directed to the Clean City Commission at (804) 646-8325 or to Keep Virginia Beautiful at (804) 665-2908. Financial donations for additional grabbers, gloves, materials, as well as general support to Keep Virginia Beautiful are welcomed at www.keepvirginiabeautiful.org.

RVA Clean Sweep also has a bunch of clean-ups scheduled for Saturday the 16th. Check here for the full list. We’ve highlighted the Reedy Creek clean-up below.
