Go Do This: Triangle, Circle, Square
This will take you only 10 minutes, and it’s something you should probably do.
What it is
It is some combination of the following:
- An art installation
- A feast for the eyes
- A feast for the ears
- A feast for the sense of humor
- A nice quick break in your day
- The work of deranged geniuses
- A cat video
Who’s behind it
New York City-based artists Andrew Brehm and Jennifer Lauren Smith.
You could spend a ton of time on Andrew Brehm’s website, and I sincerely hope you do. His videos and installations make me laugh so hard and I don’t know why. Some combination of earnestness and dryness and absurdity and props and shapes and music.
Jennifer Lauren Smith has the video on her website, but I urge you not to watch it! It’s much better live with the shaped screens and the simultaneous projections. Do not spoil yourself.
The soundtrack to the work is by Luz Fleming.
Where it is
Gallery5, 200 W. Marshall Street in Jackson Ward. Street parking shouldn’t be too tough to find.
When it is
The exhibit launches Gallery5’s spring season, but will be outta here after March 26th. That is not much time for you to get over there!
You can view it anytime between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Thursday through Saturday. This Saturday is your last chance! I’m nervous for you! Get over there!
How much it costs
It’s free, dude!
Other things to note
I was told to see this by someone who promised me I would not be disappointed. It is a small, simple thing, but I have thought about it many times since. And watching it made me feel like I was meditating while at the same time being amused. Amuseditation?
Also, if you go by yourself, you don’t have to discuss it with anyone afterwards. You can just let it be in the memory bookshelves of your brain. It’ll do well there.
If you don’t go to this, you will…
Have a big empty spot in that ol’ memory bookshelf.
