Homicide on Byron Street

Homicide Investigation/Arrest

On Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at approximately 1:20 PM, Henrico Police responded to a firearm violation in the 2700 block of Byron Street. Officers located an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to VCU Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. The victim has been identified as Dejon Jermaine Wagstaff, age 20, of Henrico.

Officers located an involved vehicle on Creighton Road shortly after the incident based upon information provided by witnesses. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and the two occupants fled on foot. The driver, identified as Steven Emanuel Parson, was apprehended. Parson has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Detectives believe there is an additional individual involved in the incident that has not been identified.

On Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at approximately 1:20 PM, officers responded to a firearm violation in the 2700 block of Byron Street. Officers located an adult male victim suffering with life threatening injuries. The victim was transported to VCU Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. The motive and cause of death is unknown, and detectives are continuing their investigation. At this time, the victim’s identity is not being released pending positive identification and next of kin notification.
