History On Tap: A night of beer history to benefit the VHS at Ardent Craft Ales

Explore and taste local brewing history and help out the Virginia Historical Society at a special benefit event.

A special event coming to Ardent Craft Ales will give craft beer lovers a glimpse into the history of brewing, a taste of a circa-1700s persimmon beer recipe, and a talk from a local author and representatives from the Virginia Historical Society and Ardent.

History On Tap will feature the first taste of Ardent’s persimmon beer, a brew based on a local 1700s recipe provided by the Virginia Historical Society.

The evening will also include a talk and discussion about historic beer recipes, featuring author Lee Graves, and Tom Sullivan and Kevin O’Leary from Ardent. It all takes place Tuesday, December 9th at 6:00 PM.

Paul Levengood, President and CEO of the Virginia Historical Society, will also speak about the importance of the VHS’s collections.

Light food from Pizza Tonight and a beer ticket — valid for one full pour of any Ardent beer — is included in ticket price. Lee Graves will also be signing and selling copies of his new book, Richmond Beer: A History of Brewing in the River City, following the discussion.

The whole evening will benefit the Virginia Historical Society, and members are entitled to a discount. Tickets are $18 for the general public; $15 for VHS members. Tickets are available for purchase online here.
