Most Richmonders already know the Virginia Historical Society is one of the best free destinations in the city. Adult and kids alike get to learn about the city and the traveling exhibits open up entire worlds of historical exploration.

From now through December there is an interactive approach to diving into the past.

Explore American history with arts and crafts and discover connections to the story of Virginia. Stories at the Museum features a group reading of a children’s history book and a make-it-and-take-it craft. Themes change monthly. Stories at the Museum takes place every first and third Saturday of the month, 11 a.m.—noon. It is free and open to all ages.

Upcoming Dates:

  • May 17 – Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage
  • June 7 and 21 – WWII History
  • July 5 and 19 –  American Revolution History
  • August 2 and 16 – Fun Virginia Tales
