The University of Richmond Museums is hosting a FREE Family Day on Sunday, March 30, 2014, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The event will feature hands-on activities for children, story time, refreshments, a scavenger hunt, face painting, and exploration of the exhibitions at the Lora Robins Gallery of Design from Nature. Visitors of all ages are invited!

Families can explore the permanent collection of gemstones, artifacts, fossils and decorative arts and these special exhibitions:

Virginia ROCKS! Geologic Selections from the Collection
The American Dream, Right? Exhibiting Soviet Jewish History in Richmond
Threads of Silk and Gold: Chinese Textiles from the Qing Dynasty
Story time at 2 p.m., features a reading from Byrd Baylor’s book “Everybody Needs a Rock”. Hands-on activities including embroidery, rock making with clay, creating trace fossils, and making clay pots will be on-going and available from 1 to 4 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public and takes place at the Lora Robins Gallery of Design from Nature, University of Richmond Museums.
