Good morning RVA: colder than yesterday but still clear and mild!

Expect today to be “colder” than yesterday’s high of 71 °F but still pretty freaking nice.

It’s about 40 °F, birds are chirping, the sky is clear, and the week’s nearly done! Today’s forecast of clear with temperatures in the mid-50s is “much colder” than yesterday–which is a bit misleading as yesterday’s high was…71 °F!? If that doesn’t herald the coming of spring, I don’t know what does!

Tomorrow: storms a comin’, Martha. If you’ve been dying to go for a run and missed your chance yesterday do so today, because severe weather is on its way.

Roads look great, dry, and ready for your business travels.

Olympics watch

Team USA picked up three more medals over the last 24 hours, extending their medal-a-day streak to 12. Ted Ligety, who has kind of revolutionized giant slalom, took home the gold in that event, and the American women took home both the silver and the bronze in two-woman bobsled. The American men’s Hockey team easily defeated the Czech Republic and will face Canada in the semifinals Friday at 12:00 PM. North America!

That’s 23 medals total, and it puts Team USA in sole possession of first place. Russian and Netherlands, each with 22, are tied for second place.

Today’s medal events include: women’s curling (Sweden vs. Canada), men’s ski cross, team large hill cross-country skiing, women’s hockey (USA vs. Canada), ladies free skate, women’s ski halfpipe.

Water cooler

Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe will join Dave Grohl and a ton of other famous dudes in a supergroup called Teenage Time Killer. With a sound like “old hardcore punk, punk and metal stuff” and the list of people involved, how can you not be excited?

#1 and then-undefeated Syracuse fell at home to 6-19 Boston College last night, which should blow your mind. The highlights are worth watching.

At least 17 protesters were killed in Kiev, Ukraine yesterday.
