Certified Emergency Response Team Program Announces Upcoming Course

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Chesterfield County’s Community Emergency Response Team, or CERT, program will hold its first training course of the year March 9-19. The eight-night program provides citizens with basic emergency response skills to help themselves, their families and neighbors during that critical time before professional public-safety providers arrive. A team of veteran emergency services instructors will provide hands-on training in such critical areas as disaster preparedness, fire safety and suppression, basic emergency medical skills, search and rescue techniques, and disaster psychology. There is no charge for the program. Participants must be at least 18 years old and in reasonably good health. The CERT course will be held 6:30-10 p.m. each evening at Chesterfield County’s Public Safety Training Center, 6610 Public Safety Way (in the county government complex).
