Wow, that certainly lead me on an odd (and informative) trip through Wikipedia. Learned a bit of Richmond history that I never knew. Not that I know a lot, I came here in 2004 and wasn’t interested before. Thanks for igniting my curiosity.
Political side note: I still think part of the solution to the Route 5 controversy is reversing the (vampire?) curse of the Church Hill tunnel collapse by redoing the Church Hill tunnel. Certainly tunnel boring technology has improved quite a bit since the 1920’s. Other cities put their highways underground, why not Richmond?
