Food for fines

Richmond Public Libraries are offering a way out of your library fines–but you’re going to need to visit your pantry to take advantage of it.

Throughout September, Richmond Public Libraries will accept cans of food as payment for library fines up to $10. All donated items will be given to FeedMore’s food bank.

Canned items most needed by the food bank are:

  • Tuna and chicken
  • Spaghetti sauce
  • Low sodium vegetables
  • Fruits packed in juice
  • Beans

Please note: Donations will not be accepted to forgive fines for lost or damaged items.

FYI: September is also Library Card Sign-Up month. Not only is it the perfect time to make sure all of your family members have their own cards, you also have the chance to replace any lost library cards at no cost (provided your account is in good standing, of course).
