Staying with the Hilton family
The Hilton Garden Inn will convert to a Hilton hotel in 2015.
The Hilton Garden Inn at 501 E. Broad Street, in the former Miller & Rhoads department store, will soon be converted to a full-service Hilton hotel in 2015. Jack Berry, president and CEO of Richmond Region Tourism stated, “It is a big deal to go from a Hilton Garden Inn to a Hilton.” The renovated hotel will include dining facilities and room service.
Improvements to the current space will include:
- All 250 guest rooms will be renovated with high-end finishes
- Additional meetins spaces
- A restaurant will move into the empty retail space along Grace and Fifth streets
- Catering space will be available
The hotel, which opened in 2009, will remain open during renovations. The condos and apartments that opened with the Hilton Garden Inn and are part of the Miller & Rhoads Residences will not be renovated. Read more about the new Hilton in the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

Maybe with the switch to the higher end Hilton the company will also reevaluate their valet procedures. Nearly three years after the death of Josie Stone you can still find the valet drivers at the Hilton driving the wrong way on the city sidewalk almost any day of the week. This needs to stop!
