Dog Days of Summer 4th Friday at ArtWorks

Fun your two legged and four legged friends.

From ArtWorks:

Finally – it’s the dog days of summer and time for one of our favorite and fun art shows. On August 28th we’re rolling out the Dog Days of Summer – an art show about pets and a fundraiser to benefit FURS (Friends United with Richmond Shelters). The event will include a doggie fashion show, a silent auction and photo booth for doggie shoots.

Plus the monthly-juried All Media Show, two solo shows, and an exhibit about the James River by local children opens.

Please join us on August 28th, 7-10 p.m. for the opening reception and meet the artists. The exhibits continue through September 20, 2015. The Dog Days of Summer ends September 13th. This event is free and open to the public.

DOG DAYS OF SUMMER All Media Show
This annual all media, juried art show spotlights dogs and cats portrayed in paintings, drawings, sculpture, ceramics and photography. FURS (Friends United with the Richmond Shelter) is the benefactor of this exhibit.

Here’s the line up for opening night:

  • 7:30 p.m. – August All Media Show gallery talk and awards presentation in the upstairs gallery.
  • 7:45 p.m. – Doggie Fashion Show – guests walk their fashionably dressed pets down the runway and the FURS jurors award prizes for best-dressed, cutest couple, best tail-wagger, friendliest and FURS pick. FURS adoptable pets also walk the runway to show off their special features and potential in the upstairs gallery.
  • 8:00 p.m. – Dog Days of Summer Art Show gallery talk and awards presentation.
  • 9 p.m. – Silent Auction closes and winners are announced. All evening long, guests will have been bidding on items exclusively for pets and pet lovers. And all monies from the silent auction go directly to FURS.

We encourage people to enter their dogs in the “fashion show” for a $5 fee. FURS staff will present awards for “best dressed”, etc.

Libby Clark, photographer has volunteered to run the “photo booth”. For $10 pets and their owners will be photographed, with props and the results made available online. This is a great value!

This exhibit continues through September 13, 2015
