Squirrels’ season starting to slip

It might be too early to say this, but it seems like Richmond is letting their season slip away from them. Richmond is now 3.5 games out of 1st place and 2.5 games out of a playoff spot. There are only about 20 games left. So while they still have time to make something happen, they better do it soon.

Squirrels coming off a rough week

Last week was one big missed opportunity for Richmond. They were swept by New Hampshire before taking two out of three from Portland. When the dust settled, Richmond found themselves back in third place and 1.5 games out of first place.

The Squirrels are still flying high

Your Flying Squirrels are half a game out of first place! With an upcoming six game home stretch, first place is in sight!

The Flying Squirrels, first place is oh, so close!

With nine games in seven days a team hopes to just survive. Going 7-2 during that stretch is a damn near miracle. That’s what the Squirrels accomplished.

Busy weekend at the Diamond could be great for the Flying Squirrels

The Squirrels are inching closer to the 2nd place Bowie, helped by a strong showing from an All-Star. This will come in handy with phenom Bryce Harper coming to town this week (for real this time).

Q&A with Squirrels pitching coach Ross Grimsley

The Squirrels’ pitching coach, Ross Grimsley, is a former 20 game winner in the Majors where he participated in three postseasons and one All Star Game — plus he was a very colorful player back in the day.

Flying Squirrel lose momentum, maintain standing

All that momentum that the Flying Squirrels had last week hit a screeching halt, as they went 2-4 and are on a three game losing streak. Still thanks to the Senators, the Squirrels didn’t lose much ground in the standings.

Great week has Richmond climbing the standings

Last week, the Flying Squirrels were sitting in 3rd place in the Western Division. Five wins over the last six games only helped them move up one game but they did knock Bowie out of 2nd place.

The Flying Squirrles are in 3rd place!

The Richmond Flying Squirrels entered the week after winning three straight series. During that time, they went 6-3 and climbed the standings in the Western Division. The winning trend continued against the Mets, but it was the blasted Bowie Baysox who stopped Richmond from making it fives series in a row. Richmond currently sits in 3rd place, 5.0 games behind Harrisburg, and sporting a 34-34 record.

Squirrels tied for third in the Eastern League!

Richmond’s 31-31 record is good enough for third place (well, tied for third) in the Eastern League. Also, you really need to check out the team jerseys for Jimmy Buffet night.
