Short Pump Shorts: Short Pump Teacher Invited to White House & Holiday Shoe Donations Needed

This is your opportunity to clean out your closets and donate something you already have, but don’t use, to a good cause. Over the next two weeks, Saxon Shoes will wrap up their 2012 Saxon Shoes for the Needy program. Donated shoes will benefit deserving area families through the programs of The Salvation Army ARC.

Over the next two weeks, Saxon Shoes will wrap up their 2012 Saxon Shoes for the Needy program. Donated shoes will benefit deserving area families through the programs of The Salvation Army ARC.

All participating individuals, organizations and families must bring their shoe donations to Saxon Shoes at Short Pump Town Center by next Saturday, December 24th.

Henrico County Public Schools have announced 14 teachers that have earned National Board Certification in 2011. Two of the newly-certified teachers attended a forum at the White House, too.

Emma Alcazar from Rolfe Middle School and Pam Holley from Short Pump Middle School were welcomed by Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and White House Domestic Policy Director Melody Barnes.

The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) is recognized as the source for the highest standards and practices that lead to improved teaching and learning. National Board Certified Teachers must demonstrate advanced teaching knowledge, skills and practices.
