Uber teams up with ChildFund to get you around town and help kids

From Sept. 19-27, first-time Uber riders can enter the code “DREAMBIKE15” and $5 will be donated to the DreamBike program. Uber will also donate $1 per ride for passengers who are driven to or from UCI events.

Getting around Richmond during the Big Bike Race hasn’t been an issue in my travels around town. Taking Uber makes it even easier and now thanks to this alliance you can help a kid get a bike while not driving, win win.

Spectators and fans that use Uber to travel to or from the UCI Road World Championships will be helping Richmond-based ChildFund International’s DreamBike program, which provides bikes to girls in 12 developing nations so they can travel to and from school safely.

From Sept. 19-27, first-time Uber riders can enter the code “DREAMBIKE15” and $5 will be donated to the DreamBike program. Uber will also donate $1 per ride for passengers who are driven to or from UCI events.

ChildFund launched the DreamBike initiative in 2014 to assist girls who live great distances from the nearest school and must travel by foot. The organization is the 2015 UCI Road World Championship’s “Charity of Choice.”

“Uber’s support of our DreamBike campaign during the UCI Races will allow the entire community to participate in raising funds to buy girls bikes,” said Anne Lynam Goddard, CEO of ChildFund International. “It is terrific to see the enthusiasm for the UCI Races translating into helping girls get educations in developing nations.”

“We are excited to partner with ChildFund on its DreamBike campaign, which shares a similar goal of helping people get safely from point A to point B,” said Annaliese Rosenthal, general manager for Uber in Virginia. “With Uber being a popular option for residents and visitors alike in Richmond, it’s great that we can help them smoothly navigate the city during the big race while at the same time donating to a great cause.”
