Premier League soccer coming to Richmond in July
They call it football, we call it soccer. No matter the name, it’s still the beautiful game.
On July 4th we’ll celebrate independence from England. On July 16th we’ll get all friendly with England the Welsh. A soccer match between English Premier League team Swansea City and Richmond Kickers will take place in City Stadium. Previous games between Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion brought in a combined 14,632 fans.
Following a three-day private pre-sale for Season Ticket Holders, general admission tickets for $30/$45 will go on sale on Tuesday, June 7th at RichmondKickers.com.
“We are delighted to announce that the world’s greatest sports league will return to City Stadium on Saturday, July 16th,” commented Leigh Cowlishaw, Richmond Kickers Director of Soccer. “Swansea City have an inspired history and tradition with a truly remarkable story over the last decade, establishing themselves as one of the top teams in the English Premier League. The atmosphere at City Stadium is guaranteed to be electric and we look forward to having this high profile exhibition highlight RVA’s Summer of Soccer.”
Swansea finished the 2015-16 season in 12th place in the English Premier League standings with a 12-15-11 record and 47 points.
