King of Pops opening retail location in Scott’s Addition

The popsicle purveyor will soon offer popsicles on the patio of its production facility on West Clay Street.

King of Pops, a local purveyor of popsicles that can be found at many area events around town, is opening up its production facility (which the company lovingly refers to as ‘the pop factory’) to the public next week.

Owner Paul Cassimus will begin selling pops to the public at the pop factory, located at 3001 West Clay Street in Scott’s Addition, next Friday, May 22nd.

“Since 2013, we’ve used the space for making our pops and for storage,” Cassimus said. “Due to demand and the way Scott’s Addition is rapidly changing, we felt it would be a good idea to start having retail hours.”

After applying for the proper city permits, Cassimus built a patio with outdoor seating. Pops will be sold through the window to customers waiting outside.

“People would always ask us at our cart locations where else they could find the pops, and now it’ll be much easier to tell them to come our retail location than to list where all our cart locations will be in a given week,” Cassimus continued.

He says he hopes to begin offering tours of the facility and demonstrations of the pop-making process soon after opening.

Cassimus recently wrapped up a successful Kickstarter campaign to fund a forthcoming mural to be painted on the building by local artists Hamilton Glass and Matt Lively.

King of Pops will be open from noon until 8:00 PM Monday through Saturday; Sunday from 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM.
