One time we went swimming in the river after a lot of rain and the water was high and fast. Once you were in there the pressure of the water constricted your chest and made it difficult to breath.

Our dad used to stuff us full of KFC, put life jackets on us and release us down the rapids at Pony Pasture. A lot of bruised knees and GOOD memories.
