10k registration sets record (and is now closed…sort of)

Registration for the Monument Avenue 10k closed at midnight last night with a record number of participants: over 37,200.

These numbers break the previous record of 32,745 set last year. According to a Sports Backers press release, this also puts the 10k just on the cusp of being one of the 25 largest road races IN THE WORLD.

Even though registration is technically closed, Sports Backers has worked out a way for you to participate. The first 25 people who donate $200 or more to the VCU Massey Cancer Center will get a spot. The special registration form can be found on the Sports Backers homepage and entries will be awarded on a first-come basis through Friday, March 19. Checks are to be made payable to the “VCU Massey Cancer Center.”
