Notes from UR v. UVa presser

Not much new from today’s UR presser — most of these things are filled with coach-speak and the party line. That’s totally fine, but you don’t typically get a ton of new info out of them.

The hot topic has shifted from who’ll be starting at QB to how do Coach Scott and the players feel about taking on their old coach Mike London. Everyone feels “good” about it and are “focused,” etc. Here’s a couple bullet points:

  • The offensive line came up a couple of times. Senior RB Tyler Kirchoff was available for questions and he said he feels comfortable running behind them and that they’ve improved dramatically since spring ball.
  • Both coaches and players are excited to see players and friends up in Charlottesville — but only after they’ve taken care of business.
  • Interesting Coach Scott was on staff with UVa when they lost to William & Mary and on staff with UR when they beat Duke. So he’s seen it from both sides.
  • Dinged up redshirt senior WR Kevin Grayson will play on Saturday.

Best quote of the afternoon was from redshirt senior DL Martin Parker, who when asked if they were going into this game expecting to win said:

“As a football player if you ever go into a game expecting not to win you shouldn’t be playing the sport.”

BAM!
