Kickin’ Chicken WingFest isn’t until next weekend but Wing King Competition starts tonight

The Kickin’ Chicken WingFest flaps into the 17th Street Farmers’ Market on October 18th, from 12-5 PM. At that time the RVA Wing King will be crowned during a final round of wing eating madness. To reach that final round you must compete in one of two satellite rounds.

Join us at Buffalo Wild Wings in Shockoe Bottom for the preliminary wing eating satellite rounds on October 8th and 15th. Participants will have 10 minutes to consume as many wings at possible. The top four competitors from each round will advance to become one of the finalists at the Kickin’ Chicken WingFest on October 18th at the 17th Street Farmers’ Market.

Participants must be 18 years or older and sign a waiver at registration. The October 18th winner will be crowned the RVA Wing King and receive a $500 cash prize.

-Satellite Rounds

Round One- October 8th: BWW’s Shockoe Bottom, 1501 East Cary Street, Registration 5:00pm-6:30pm, Competition at 6:30pm

Round Two- October 15th: BWW’s Shockoe Bottom, 1501 East Cary Street, Registration 5:00pm-6:30pm, Competition at 6:30pm

We’ll have more than 20 local restaurants including Mama J’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, Alamo BBQ, En Su Boca, The Grapevine, On The Rox, and Shockoe Whiskey and Wine . J ust to name a few!

The brew masters at Center of the Universe have worked tirelessly since last year’s festival to develop a beer exclusively for this year’s event. The Wild Berry Kolsch is very light, goes down smooth, and is sure to be a hit. Event attendees will not want to miss the only opportunity to try this brew!

To keep things interesting we will be offering two exciting contests at this event.

• People’s Choice Award- Event attendees will have the opportunity to cast ballots for their favorite wing of the festival. Last year, On The Rox claimed the title and is looking to defend it!

• RVA Wing King Competition presented by Buffalo Wild Wings-

All Day- NFL games will be playing on big screen TV’s in two designated dining tent areas.

12:00pm- A DJ and wing eating competition emcee will be entertaining the crowd in preparation for the final round of the Wing Eating Competition.

2:30pm- Final round of the Wing Eating Competition. Winner will be crowned the RVA Wing King!

3:00pm- 17th Street Farmers’ Market favorite Dance Candy will be taking the stage until 5:00pm to finish out the party!

The Kickin’ Chicken WingFest comes to the Historic 17th Street Farmers’ Market on Sunday, October 18th from noon to 5:00pm. Free to attend. Food and beverages will available for purchase. See you there!
