Remember the episode when the Simpsons vacationed for Independence Day? Homer ventured into Li’l Valu-Mart, a doppelganger to the iconic Kwik E’ Mart owned by Apu Nahasapeemapetilon. While perusing *cough* illegal *cough* fireworks, the the owner of Li’l Valu-Mart quips to the patriotic Homer, “Celebrate the independence of your nation by blowing up a small part of it!”

RVA Fireworks on the James

  • July 3, 9:30pm
  • Brown’s Island (7th and Tredegar streets)
  • FREE

Fireworks with the Flying Squirrels

  • July 4 and 5, after the game (first pitch at 6:35pm on July 4th, 7:05 July 5th)
  • The Diamond (3001 N. Boulevard)
  • $7 to $11

Fireworks Concert at Dogwood Dell

  • July 4, 5pm
  • Dogwood Dell (700 Blanton Avenue)
  • FREE

Kings Dominion Independence Day Fireworks

  • July 2, 3, and 4, around 9:30pm
  • Kings Dominion (16000 Theme Park Way in Doswell)
  • Single day admission is $57.99 (adults) and $34.99 (child). $47.99 (discounts available for seniors and kids or if you buy your tickets in advance — see website for details). Single day tickets purchased after 4pm are $34.99.
