The Garden is for Lovers: Valentine’s Display in the Conservatory

One of Richmond’s most stunning spots will showcase a month-long special display in the Conservatory featuring roses, tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, and orchids. Top things off with lunch in the Tea House or with one of Lewis Ginter’s Valentine’s brunches, and you’ve got yourself a winner.

2nd Annual Love Equality Style Weekend

Presented by MCC Richmond, the Gay Community Center of Richmond, and People of Faith for Equality in Virginia, this weekend-long event (including “Witness for Marriage Equality” at the John Marshall Courts Building and a dance at the GCC) is all in celebration of equality.

Valentine’s Day Dinner Package with Joe Starr

You know what they say: the couple that laughs and eats dinner AT THE SAME TIME together, stays together. (Hey, that’s a thing they could say.) Comedian Joe Starr will headline this evening that comes with a special dinner package for two. Includes admission to the show, a house salad, your choice of entree (from the “headliner’s” portion of the menu), chef’s dessert, and a champagne toast.

Giselle

Richmond Ballet and the Richmond Symphony join forces to tell you the tale of a “young village girl’s heartbreak as she is betrayed by her beloved, and destined in death to join the ranks of the Wilis, maiden spirits intent on dancing their former lovers to death. Only the devotion in Giselle’s heart can save her love from meeting his end.” Richmond Ballet will also host a brunch prior to Sunday’s matinee performance.

The Love Tour At Maymont Mansion

Some members of the RVANews staff recently saw The King’s Speech and have been obsessed with the British royals ever since. So imagine our delight when we came across this lovely little gem highlighting the romantic tone set by Queen Victoria and her husband, Prince Albert, during the 19th century. Visit Maymont Mansion during Valentine’s Day weekend as elegantly costumed ladies and gentlemen relate details of this royal love story and the courting customs of the era. Discover the Victorian language of love as depicted in the décor of Maymont Mansion, where romantic swans, red roses and costly indulgences reflect James Dooley’s loving devotion to his wife Sallie. Awwww….

Richmond Varietease presents “Welcome to the Lovership”

As the Facebook event page states, “The burlesque Lovership has landed, Richmond, and this time we are coming for your hearts!” Perfect for those looking for something a little more sassy/spicy to do on Valentine’s Day. Yeah, we just said “spicy.”

Richmond Derby Demons: Lovers’ Brawl (Broad St. Brawlers vs. Carytown Crashers)

Because what’s more romantic than watching a bunch of folks beat the snot out of each other — while they are on ROLLER SKATES? Seriously, if you’re looking to do something really different, this is sure to please. (This will also be just the ticket for those of you who hate Valentine’s Day. Ok, obviously this isn’t a Valetine’s Day-specific event, but we can guarantee it will make for an awesome night out and there is no way you will be not happy throughout the performance.
