All Star Mother’s Day

Looking to give mom a little inspiration? Gospel artist Shirley Caesar will hook you up (with a little help from Marvin Sapp and Lee Williams).

Movies & Mimosas: Mommie Dearest

This event is great for two reasons: 1) Moms, you can make yourself feel better because it’s not likely that you’re as nutso as Joan Crawford was, and 2) Kids, you’ll find yourself being SO grateful that your mother isn’t as nuts as Joan Crawford was.

Maymont Mother’s Day Tea

Treat the mothers in your life to a traditional tea on the lawn of Maymont Mansion. Enjoy tea, delicious “sweets and savories,” and leave with a special keepsake. You’ll also get a tour through the mansion led by costumed tour guides. So dainty and fun!

Mother’s Day at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens

Spend Mother’s Day surrounded by Lewis Ginter’s beautiful blooms! Brunch is available in the Tea House from 10am to 3pm (reservations are a must!) or you can enjoy la carte dining available in the Garden at Bloemendaal House. There will also be a free concert by Glennroy Bailey from 1pm to 4pm.

Head over to the Northside to enjoy “a musical Mother’s Day card.” We don’t know what that means, but it sounds adorable.

Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and picnic baskets and cozy up with the fam on Agecroft Hall’s lawn to enjoy a performance from the Richmond Concert Band!

Mother’s Day Carriage Ride in the Gardens

Ok, we realize that JMU is a couple hours away, but this sounds so romantic and thoughtful, it seems worth it. Take in the sights at Edith J. Carrier Arboretum & Botanical Gardens either by moonlight on Saturday May 8 or sunshine on May 9. Delightful!

Mother’s Day James River Plantation Progressive Tour

Hop in the car and head over to Williamsburg for an afternoon spent and exploring the Piney Grove at Southall’s Plantation collection of antiques, gardens, and historic buildings. The tour concludes with lemonade and cookies served in the garden.

Celebrate Mother’s Day at Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum

Woodrow Wilson is the reason we have officially have Mother’s Day in the US (true story) so it makes sense that his museum has something special planned. In fact, all mother’s get in free on Mother’s Day! Bring the kiddies to tour the museum, explore the Kids’ Corner, and check out the new World War I trenches exhibit.
