i love the state fair with so much passion

  5. well get ready for more state fair photos over the next few posts

  6. No one used to out-passion me in my love for the state fair until last year the rides sort of made me sick and I wasn’t really as excited about the food as I used to be, so…in sum, I am passionless.

I will take this chance to share my favorite State Fair moment. Freshman year of college, just me and my parents, smooshed in a circular track car (I can’t remember the ride’s name) with my father while Motley Crue’s “Girls, Girls, Girls” played. No, wait. It was when I volunteered to participate in the side show with a midget and his fake blade trick. You can’t get that sort of memory printed on a t-shirt. A mouse pad, maybe.

And I have paid to see the world’s smallest woman. TWICE.

  8. The State Fair taught me that I can’t resist the temptation to pay money to be disappointed. Fish Lady, Haitian 22-tiny-inches-tall lady, Ape Lady, Tiniest Pony, Biggest Ox. I’ve paid money to see them all.

  9. I can share one of my best memories of LA – you came over to my apartment on Hanover after seeing the tiniest pony and you were seriously shouting in frustration, “IT IS A PONY IN A DITCH!” Those heady days!

  10. My wife and our four friends spent most of our time at the fair staring at this and/or trying to convince two of us to go in on a picture.
Thank you for having the foresight to realize this was the best thing at the fair and take a picture.
