The deadline for submissions to be part of Google Fiber was last Friday. Richmond was one of 1,100 cities that applied. Take a look at the video the City of Richmond submitted as part of its bid for one of the 20 spots available:

So now that our application is in, what happens next?

Here’s what Google says:

Over the coming months, we’ll be reviewing the responses to determine where to build. As we narrow down our choices, we’ll be conducting site visits, meeting with local officials and consulting with third-party organizations. Based on a rigorous review of the data, we will announce our target community or communities by the end of the year.

Looks like we’ve got some waiting to do. So, in the meantime, it wouldn’t hurt for Richmond’s support to keep growing. Even though nominations are closed, you can still stop by the 1GbforRVA Facebook page and become a fan or follow the effort on Twitter.
