RVA kids can send a message to the future!

On September 25, Bryan Park will celebrate its 100th anniversary. Well, this is adorable.

On September 25, Bryan Park will celebrate its 100th anniversary. To commemorate this occasion, Richmond children (ages kindergarten through 12th grade) are invited to submit a letter or drawing for possible inclusion in a time capsule that will buried in the park during the centennial celebration.

From the City’s press release:

In their letters, children should give their age and tell the park’s future visitors about themselves, their family, the neighborhood where they live, what they like to do and where they like to go in Richmond and why. Children can also write about what they think the future will be like in 100 years. Of course, all letters should be signed with names and addresses.

Children can also submit drawings of themselves, their family, their friends, their house, neighborhood, or someplace in or around the city of Richmond. They can also submit drawings of what they think Richmond will look like in 100 years. All drawings must be on 8½ by 11-inch paper and include the child’s name, age, and address.

A panel of judges will select which letters and drawings will be included in the capsule. Kids are also welcome to suggest items to be included with the letters and drawings.

The deadline for entries and suggestions is September 10, and all entries should be mailed to:
