Hopefully we’ll get a break in the heat this evening so all of you can head out and join in on your neighborhood’s National Night Out events.

In case you’re not familiar with National Night Out, it was developed in 1984 by the National Association of Town Watch in efforts to increase awareness and support of anti-crime efforts in communities. National Night Events started out as “lights on” vigils and a whole lot of porch sitting, but now many communities opt for block parties, parades, childrens’ events, and cookouts.

Richmond has a lot of National Night Out options for you and your friends/fam this evening. Check out these community news sites for more information on the goings-on in your area:
