I *also* had no clue what “shad planking” was (or perhaps you all know, and I’m an idiot… very possible) but this event basically involves cooking fish over an open fire and chowing down on said fish, coleslaw, and muffins. It also involves a talk given by former Virginia Governor and for U.S. Senator George Allen.

Enter to win tickets to Inter-Community Shad Planking here.

The contest closes at 3pm TODAY.

(Special thanks to Bandazian & Holden for hooking us up with the tickets!)

  1. It’s way more than that. What about the old-school politiking, Cooter Davenport (a.k.a. Ben Jones) sightings, bluegrass music, and endless river of booze/beer? I went a few years ago. It was lots of fun, if you consider getting hammered and talking politics face-to-face with your elected representatives fun.

When was the last time you had a chance to accidentaly spill a bourbon drink on your State Senator’s loafers while demanding him to repeal Virginia’s whole “missionary-only” sex laws?
