Another high-profile position is left vacant. Wilder blames City Council. So, business as usual, really.
Richmond Police Chief Rodney Monroe will bid farewell to the River City when he takes command of Charlotte’s police department next month.
Reports say he will start no later than June 16.
Today is May 16.
That’s about 20 business days to find his replacement.

I don’t get it when I heard on NPR when I drove in that they are scrambling trying to find a replacement. Haven’t we heard for at least a week or two that they were considering him for the Charlotte position? Shouldn’t maybe someone have thought about this THEN?
I personally don’t understand how people can hold a guy who puts together all kinds of fabulous changes like this guy did up on a pedestal:
“The man walks on water as far as I’m concerned,” Councilman E. Martin Jewell said, citing the Police Department’s success in eliminating drug hot spots in his district.
Embrace the change and the person but please realize that you’re not going to (or if you do, maybe you shouldn’t!) have someone around forever.
Have you read that Wilder has said he’s not running again?
