1. Gallery 5 gets busy. G5 presents three shows in 3 days – “Off the Books” Back to School Dance Party on Friday, a Rorschach Records Show (Antlers, Des Ark, The Catalyst, Mermaid Skeletons, 7:00, $6) on Saturday and $1 Sundays!! 2. Fourth Fridays in Manchester. From 5-7 Os Magrelos plays at Savor Cafe, from 7-10 art shows at Art Works, 12 12 Gallery and artspace and from 9-11 the Blues Brothers will be playing in the Scoot Richmond parking lot.”Bring a blankie, lawn chairs, or just recline on your scooter or motorcycle.” More info here

3. Gospel Festival at The Great Big Flea Market. Praise 104.7 and Active Hand Ministry present a gospel concert at the flea market from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m on Saturday. Sounds like a sure bet if you ask me. Free. 3302 Williamsburg Road.

4. If you dont know,”Project Resolution, presented by Yellow House, is a free and open monthly forum where filmmakers are invited to present their work and to receive feedback and critique from the audience. Projects are encouraged to be under five minutes and to be based on pre-established audience prompts.” This Sunday the prompt is “Death Race” and the film presented is Lustig by John Black II. 5. Olympics Closing Ceremonies. If you didnt see the opening ceremonies make sure and catch Sunday’s finale, set to air via tape delay at 7 p.m. EDT on NBC. Read more here.

  3. I was just thinking yesterday about how STP used to lay down the drum tracks for their albums with the drummer outside in the front lawn of the house they recorded in. I probably last had that thought in ’94 shortly after seeing the Pilot on MTV.
