1. First Friday featuring Hot 8 Brass Band, Marching Gamelan, InLight stuff, Friday, 7-10, Downtown. Theres really so much going on at First Friday this month its hard to wrap my mind around. I will say this though – 1) Hot 8 Brass dudes are kinda famous, from New Orleans and are super good. 2) somewhere in the timeline of the night there will be “Art Cheerleaders”…

2. No BS Brass Back to School Party. Friday, 9-1, The Camel. My Idea is that No B.S. should show up wherever those Hot 8 Bros are and they should battle. I think that would be wonderful. I will where my Reggie Pace throwback jersey.

3. SoulPower RVA. Saturday, 10-2, Cous Cous. Sorry about loving these guys so much but they are truly really truly super great. 60’s and 70’s soul, boogaloo, salsa and heartwarming music of all kinds.

4. NFL Opening Weekend. Sunday, 12-12, on TV. Once again, at least be culturally aware that the biggest sport in america begins Sunday (well really last night but whose counting). The Redskins look promising and my friends friend knows Jim Zorn – so I’m excited.

5. Premier of Double Dragon Skate Video. Friday, 11:45, The Byrd. New skate video from Richmond, heres a “trailor”…

5. Nascar. Friday and Saturday, 7:30, 8:00, Richmond International Raceway. Also, it’s important to be culturally aware that America’s second largest sport comes to Richmond all weekend. ALL WEEKEND!. Its well worth your time to bike down there and take in the scene.
