Spring is coming to Richmond this weekend (and the rest of the Northern hemisphere, I suppose). The weather’s looking decent, the sun has come out of hiding, and things are looking up in this town. Makes you wanna get out and do something, doesn’t it?

1. Third Thursdays at the VMFA

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is kicking off their season of Third Thursdays with dance lessons, booze, and QUESADILLAS. Learn to do the Salsa, the Rumba, and the Cha-Cha-Cha, backed by the music stylings of… DJ Steve. Ha, yeah I know. Thursday, March19th, 7pm, 200 N. Boulevard, $10 ($8 for members). 2. Live Sky: Vernal Equinox at the Science Museum

What better way to celebrate the onset of spring than by hanging out on the lawn of the Science Museum, looking at the stars? Well I’ll tell you: there isn’t one. Members of the Richmond Astronomical Society will be sharing their telescopes with everyone interested in taking a look. This is a great one for the kiddies. And you can go to that sketchy Pizza Hut right across the street when you’re finished. Friday, March 20th, 7pm, 2500 W. Broad Street, FREE!

3. Henricus Historical Park‘s Colonial Crafts and Games

Tri-cornered hats aren’t just for Williamsburg anymore! It’s about time those bastards let go of that monopoly anyway. Join other nerds history-lovers for 17th century crafts like knitting, carpentry, and BLACKSMITHING. Perhaps they’ll let you fashion your own artillery equipment. For the kids, they’ve got hoops, quoits (which I’ve actually played before and is super fun), and darts (hmmm). Saturday, March 21st, 10am to 5pm, 251 Henricus Park Road in Chester, $7 for adults, $5 for kids. (Children can make and take crafts for an additional fee.)

4. Landing a Job in a Tough Economy at the Jepson Alumni Center‘s Robins Pavilion

This event is, unfortunately, quite timely and needed. Stop by and get some job-finding assistance from the University of Richmond’s Career Development Center. Monday, March 23nd, 6pm, 28 Westhampton Way, FREE!

Slam Poetry at The Camel

I didn’t even know people still did Slam Poetry. Wait, I might be confusing it with Slam Books. Either way, it should be interesting/entertaining. (Side note: someone should consider doing a Slam Book in Richmond.) Monday, March 23rd, 7pm, 1621 W. Broad Street, FREE!
